While serving our nation as a Marine Musician, I spearheaded the "Request a Clinician" service at the bands I was stationed. I have ran clinics for every age group in schools. I always begin with a quick run down of some exciting stories of places I've performed and people I've met (including the Queen of England), then rolling into what the teacher or administration requested I clinic. This always gave me a chance to use exact language the teacher already used, proving they know what they're doing too. Subject examples have been warm-up routines, tuning tricks, ensemble techniques, brass sectionals, leadership techniques for section leaders...the list goes on & on. Fully customized to your classroom needs. All custom pricing; all based on time needed, number of classes etc.
I have run clinics as a teacher before the Corps, to include Middle School District Festivals. But as a Marine, I led High School Honor Bands at area, district and state levels throughout the country. I was even involved in the All-Europe High School Band while stationed in Naples Italy. The picture above comes from my last Honor Band as an active-duty musician. District 6 Honor Band consisting of three parishes in the New Orleans area. Out of all the things I got the honor to do while in the Marine Coprs, being an Honor Band conductor/clinician was always the most fun and rewarding. This group had some charaters. At the last rehearsal before the concert, the seniors presented me with presents, one of which was a plastic sword. We were joking around (we could do that as this group arrived to the first rehearsal, of a difficult and ambisious program, with the notes under their fingers) and I started conducting with the sword. I ended up telling that story to the audience and starting a march with the sword. All custom pricing; all based on time needed, number of rehearsals, performances etc.
Marching Band, Leadership, Camp Work
Having been a marching band director, professional brass player, section leader, section commander and literally getting paid to march in the Corps before becoming an Enlisted Conductor for my last 9 years, I have done and taught just about everything having to do with marching bands. I've even written custom music for bands as well as writen drill for the field. This summer (2020) has been the first sence my college days in the late 80s/early 90s, that I haven't done something with at least one Middle School or High School band camp. Having been a competition music and/or marching judge also gives me a unique perspective on what judges are looking for at marching competitons. I've even consulted on setting up parade marching Honor Guards with schools around bases I've been stationed at. Taught the directors and student flag code, techniques for how to not fight the colors in the wind, that kind of thing. All Custom pricing; all based on time needed, number of rehearsals, performances etc.
